The 10 Bullet Journal Spreads Everyone Needs To Try
One of the things that has helped me tremendously with keeping my life more organized has been a bullet journal. I use it to organize and document not only my travels, but also to keep track of my daily chores and even add little stories about things I enjoy doing or that I want to try soon! I surprisingly have also found that a bullet journal can be a great way to relieve your stress and anxiety, especially if you decide to make a list of what’s bothering you or a list of activities that help help with stress.
The best thing about bullet journals is that you can have a very minimal one, or go all out with bullet journal doodles, washi tape, pen, markers, stickers, metal stencils, borders and so much more. You can do whatever your imagination wants with it! After all, the journal is your own, and only you can create the one that speaks to you. Yet there are a few journal spread ideas that I believe could be beneficial for most of us, so I’ve put together a list of some favorites.
Bullet Journal Spread Ideas To Make Your Life Easier
Daily Spread
The Daily Spread is a really useful thing to log in your bullet journal. You can start setting it up on Sundays, and then add more activities if needed once the day comes. I love daily spreads because I can incorporate my daily fitness and health goals, my most important daily work activities, and use it as a reminder for other things like meeting a friend after work. This is especially useful during really busy weeks at work when you are focused on way too many things at once and can easily forget. Overall they work great as daily trackers and to record key ideas when they come to mind.
Weekly Spread
Many people prefer Weekly bullet journal Spread vs Daily ones. They are both very similar, almost interchangeable. The difference being that in the weekly spread, you can use one or two pages to write down every day of the week and include the activities that you consider most urgent or important. In the daily spread you’ll probably use a page for each day, and will be able to write in more detail. In the end, it all comes to two factors: how busy your week is and how much you actually want to write down in your bullet journal spread. Some people don’t really need little reminders about working out and diet, so a weekly spread with info about bigger things might work for them.
Monthly Bullet Journal Spread
Monthly spread would work in a form of calendar or future log in your bullet journal. Just like in your weekly spread, you can use two pages and start writing down important events and dates at the beginning of the month, and the add more as time goes on. For your monthly spreads, you can work with different kinds of styles: Calendar format, Ryder Carroll’s list style, or even one you completely created on your own! You can also add monthly trackers, quotes, and themes matching the different seasons or holidays. Some of my favorite things to add to my monthly bullet journal spread are :
Birthday calendars
Payment due dates
Monthly goals
Key appointments
Travel Bucket List
Since I’m a huge travel lover, I have decided to use a completely separate notebook for my travels. If you are planning to create one of those, you can find more in depth ideas here( Bullet Journal Travel Ideas To Inspire You On your Travels ). Either way, I’ll still recommend adding a travel bucket list section to your everyday bullet journal. For me, it’s one the one thing that always makes me super happy to write, especially during the winter months when I am adding some paradisiac islands to my bucket list! To make it a bit more practical, you can have a more seasonal or monthly bucket list, or simply remove the travel part and just have a Bucket List. This will let you add activities that make you happy but that you don't necessarily need to leave the city in order to do. For example, if you have always wanted to go to a Paint & Sip, you can log it and then start researching your nearby options the next time you look back and see the entry. It’s just a great way to scratch things off your bucket list and have tons of fun while planning to do so!
Budget Tracker
Your budget tracker log is the perfect tool to add, especially if you want to save up to go on that trip or take that dream class as soon as possible. This kind of bullet journal spread is not only great to track your savings, but also your spending! This will make you more accountable for your finances. No matter if you are using your budget tracker to make that Bahamas trip happen or to buy the latest computer or phone, this is a great way to make it happen.
Bullet Journal Spreads For Mental Health
For me, this is one of the most important spreads in my bullet journal. Mental health is such an important part of our lives, and it’s very easy to overlook the things we need to do in order to have and maintain good mental health. Tracking how often and what you do to take care of your mental health is a great way to be consistent with it. Also, you’ll be less propense to put your mental health second when you see it listed alongside your work and your daily chores. Another great thing about this log is that you can see how good you are getting at building new habits! It will also show you which aspects you aren’t totally on top of and should focus more on next week. Some of the activities I tried to incorporate in my mental health journal spread are:
Meditating/Doing yoga
Try not to worry about things that haven’t happened
Stop criticizing or being too hard on yourself
Sleep for 8 hours at least 5 days a week
Drink at least 2 liters of water each day
Fitness Goals Spread
No matter what your fitness and body goals are , exercising and being active is a key aspect of living a healthier life. Even if you are totally comfortable and happy with your body (which you should be!) a fitness goals spread log can help you plan your workouts and your daily physical activity, which will benefit your overall health and wellness. If you decide you would like to lose or gain weight, or maybe gain some muscle, this bullet journal spread will make it easy to be consistent, which will have a big impact when achieving your fitness goals. If you’re working towards running a marathon or something like that, keeping track of your progress and holding yourself accountable for adjusting what’s not working is made much easier by having it all written out.
Self Care Spread
Much like the mental health spread, the self care log is where you put all the activities that will help you to love yourself more, appreciate your body, and generally take care of yourself. If you have a self care spread, it’s easier to hold yourself accountable for yourself. How can someone else care for you when you don't do it first? Pamper yourself and learn which activities make your mind and body happy. Some of my favorite self care activities include :
Believe in yourself
Cut toxic people of your life / Avoid toxic relationships and situations
Learn to not feel bad when saying no or not wanting to be involved in relationships or situations that are not good for your soul
Do at least one thing a week that makes you happy
Do something that makes you feel like you are valuable and important
Read some inspirational and self assurance quotes
Remind yourself that you are special and unique, and don’t be harsh on yourself due to past mistakes
Vision board spread
This is another of those fun logs you can add to your bullet journals. Let your imagination fly and write down all your dreams in this spread! This is a great way to motivate yourself, and it lets you envision yourself doing something that you have always wanted. In this section, you can add anything at all, from getting that dream job to owning your own house, or going on a fabulous vacation to Australia and maybe meeting your future husband or wife there! Remember that the secret is believing not only that it can happen, but that it will happen!
List of Goals and Successes
Listing your goals and successes is a great way of not only pushing yourself to be better and to do better for yourself, but also to make a point of feeling proud of yourself. This is an underrated point that many people don’t associate with their goals, but encouraging yourself by appreciating you successes can be a vital part of moving towards new goals. Balancing small and bigger goals will help you avoid a feeling of being stuck in life, which many people struggle with. It’s also a great way to learn how to appreciate ourselves and the hard work we have been putting in to achieve a goal, especially when you just need a bit more motivation sometimes. You can add daily, weekly, monthly , yearly or just future goals in general. I especially like how it also serves as a reminder of where we came from, where we are now, and how far we want to go.
Other bullet journal spread ideas can include:
An organization spread
A health log
A house chore list

A period tracker
