Mondays are often one of the most tedious days of the week. For most of us, the feeling is closely related to the start of the work week and the end of the weekend. 

The start of the work week is associated with extra responsibilities, more tasks, and new challenges. 

On Mondays, we are more likely to start problem-solving, planning, and organizing before getting out of bed than any other weekday. All of this makes us more likely to experience anxiety, stress, and feel overwhelmed during the day, as well as carry those feelings throughout the rest of the week. 

Many psychologists and self-help books encourage us to change our mindsets and embrace Mondays as a fresh start, to set new goals, to make plans, and to approach tasks with renewed energy. 

Experts often share strategies like organizing, planning, and taking breaks throughout the day as helpful tools to make Mondays more manageable. And although these can be helpful, I have found that they lead to more work during the weekends and more self-pressure and stress accumulation. 

It's easier to say, "Get organized, change your mindset, and see Mondays as a new opportunity" than to do it, especially when other factors like not being very passionate about the work that you do or the negative weight that we as a society have placed on Mondays play a significant role in our general outlook. 

So, instead of forcing yourself to change your mindset from one day to the next, incorporate affirmations into your Monday morning routine to help cultivate a positive outlook. 

By doing so, you'll engage and relax your mind with positive thoughts before the work week.

What are the benefits of Monday affirmations?

Saying affirmations at the start of each Monday can have many great benefits in your workweek and your overall outlook of life. For example:

Start your Monday with three deep breaths. Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth.

When repeating your affirmations, pay close attention to your own words and actively listen when repeating each of the affirmations out loud. 

Take a moment to notice the sounds of your own words and the meaning that these words can have in your own life. Focusing on the words and sounds will help you stay with your positive thoughts and prevent your mind from wandering away. 

Sit quietly and pay attention to your breathing in between affirmations. Maintain a good posture while also relaxing your mouth and body. Let your awareness of your body and thoughts take over, and feel like everything else fades away. 

When your mind wanders, take a deep breath and repeat your last affirmation, gently redirecting your thoughts and intentions to your words. Don't be too harsh on yourself. Keep breathing and awakening your senses.

Incorporate your affirmations into your Monday mindfulness practice and morning routine for at least three months. It takes three months to form a habit. Over these months, you'll find that positive Mondays become a reality.
